Kataeb party hopes new cabinet will safeguard Lebanon

The Kataeb party said that the national consensus over the designation of Tammam Salam as Prime Minister is a new hope in overcoming the complicated current situation, hoping that Salam will be able to form a cabinet capable of protecting the country and facing all kinds of temporary and crucial challenges, including the issue of the parliamentary elections. The party stressed that the new government should base its ministerial statement on the Baabda Declaration.             

Following the weekly meeting held by its political bureau under the chairmanship of Amine Gemayel, the party pointed out that the social situation is witnessing many dangers left behind by the resigning cabinet, stressing the need to find accurate funding sources for the ranks and salaries scale without affecting national growth, harming the currency or hindering the productive economic process. The party warned against any attempt to cancel the 1960s electoral law by delaying deadlines without first replacing the law.                 

On the other hand, the Kataeb party called on the Egyptian authorities to deal with the deteriorating situation following the attack targeting the country's Coptic minority, in order to prevent such events from distorting Egypt’s image.
