Bkerke: Only official statements of Rai's meetings are true

                   
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai pursued on Wednesday his Parisian visit whereby he is expected to meet Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri this evening.        

The meeting that was slated for today between Rai and Hariri will reportedly tackle the electoral law as contacts are being held in this regard between the Maronite Patriarchate and the Future bloc.         

Sources close to the Future bloc also said that the party is adamant on exerting efforts to adopt an electoral law that guarantees fair representation and yields the approval of almost all Lebanese parties.         

In this regard, the media office of Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerke pointed out that only the two official statements of Patriarch Rai's meetings with the French President and the French Foreign Minister are true, contrary to "other" media reports.          

Cardinal Rai left Beirut on Monday and headed for Paris, where he met with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius upon his arrival.       

In this context, Cardinal Rai discussed with Fabius the latest developments in Lebanon along with some regional affairs highlighting the key role that Lebanon played in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.        

The head of the Maronite Church, Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai also met on Monday with the Former Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares who highly praised the stance of Cardinal Rai who called for adopting a fair electoral law that ensures just representation.        

On Tuesday, Cardinal Rai crowned his visit by meeting with the French President Francois Hollande at the Elysée Palace.          

Following his Parisian trip, Rai is set to kick off a pastoral tour in Latin America, which will last until the end of May and which includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Colombia and Venezuela.
