Gemayel: Hezbollah’s presence in Hermel contradicts Baabda Declaration

Kataeb party leader Amin Gemayel said Monday that the Lebanese-Syrian borders are being neglected; noting that Hezbollah’s growing presence the border region contradicts with the principles of the Baabda Declaration.             

Following the weekly meeting of the Kataeb’s political bureau, Gemayel stressed the need to reach an electoral law which guarantees fair representation and real partnership, and protects national unity, pointing out that the proposals which were presented are inadequate. He expressed the party’s readiness to help the Prime Minister-Designate in the cabinet formation process, in order to finalize it the soonest possible.                 

On the other hand, Gemayel noted that the issue of the Syrian refugees raises the concerns of the Lebanese people, stating that officials are not dealing seriously with this matter. “The emergency committee established by the Kataeb party presented its first report, and it will follow up on the case with international and local authorities,” he added.
