REPORT: Meeting held in Maarab between Geagea, Bassil, Ferzli

Sources told LBCI that a meeting, which lasted two hours, was held on Monday at Maarab, with the new electoral law as the main item on its agenda.

The meeting included the Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil, MP Elie Ferzli, MP George Adwan and MP Elie Keyrouz.

Well-informed sources told LBCI that meeting reflected positive intentions from both parties, the Lebanese Forces and the Free Patriotic Movement, in an attempt to facilitate reaching an agreement over a new electoral law.

In this context, the sources the discussions aimed at creating a unified position before May 15th, noting that the positive atmosphere shows that the Christians are seeking fairness, represented by the Orthodox gathering draft law.
