Gordon from Baabda: The US to continue supporting LAF

The Special Assistant to the US President and White House Coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf Region Philip Gordon expressed on Tuesday “the appreciation of the US administration to the role performed by the Lebanese president in preserving the country’s stability on the basis of the Baabda declaration,” stressing the need to hold the parliamentary elections.

Following his meeting with President Michel Sleiman at the Baabda Presidential Palace, Gordon announced that the US will be providing the Lebanese government with USD 10 million to be added to the USD 36 million offered as part of a financial assistance package to help the Syrian refugees.

On the other hand, Gordon pointed out that his country will continue assisting the Lebanese Army to promote its role in its missions carried out at the borders and in the country.

For his part, President Sleiman thanked the United States for its constant support to Lebanon in all the fields.
