MP Fayyad to LBCI: Political void is the worst-case scenario

Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad stressed on Friday that he has not yet lost hope in reaching consensus over a new electoral law, noting that the extraordinary session of the parliamentary communications committee was not previously scheduled.

Fayyad said in a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said that discussions are focusing on the hybrid electoral draft law, even if it is considered “untreatable”, pointing out that March 8 forces presented 11 remarks, 4 among them were taken into consideration while the remaining 7 are still pending.

In this context, Fayyad said that the remarks represent the position of Hezbollah, Amal Movement, Free Patriotic Movement and the Tashnag party.

“We refuse to reach a state of political void which is the worst-case scenario,” Fayyad added.
