REPORT: Beirut National Museum celebrates International Museum Day

The Beirut National Museum holds 4 thousand years of history and acts as the memory of the Lebanese people no matter their affiliations.

On the International Museum Day on May 18th, Beirut's Museum opened its doors for visitors to enter free of charge, in an attempt to encourage the people to come in and take a look at the archeological discoveries found in the different Lebanese regions.

However, this occasion has recalled an incident which occurred in another museum in Lebanon that witnessed a robbery. The incident which targeted the Archaeological Museum of Jbeil has urged the officials to raise awareness against the spread of a new phenomenon in Lebanon which is stealing historic artifacts.

This report will expose the stance of the caretaker Culture Minister Gaby Layoun, and will examine the measures taken by the concerned authorities to fight against this phenomenon.
