Jumblatt says Hezbollah's target has changed

The head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt stressed on Monday the need to hold dialogue between the Lebanese parties to discuss controversial files, mainly that of Hezbollah’s weapons.

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa Newspaper, he noted that many regional factors are affecting the use of these weapons, mainly the Syrian crisis which has led Hezbollah to "alter its target".

On the other hand, the PSP leader called for restoring respect for the constitutional institutions through deploying joint efforts in order to from a new cabinet of national unity capable of implementing serious measures, recalling that the PSP has always supported stability.

Commenting on the situation in Syria, Jumblatt said that “those who sparked the revolution with peaceful demonstrations are neither terrorists, nor Takfirists, but their struggle aimed at turning Syria into a free and democratic country where humanitarian dignity is respected, away from tyranny and oppression exerted by the regime.”

“The United States is gradually retreating from the region amid the indifference of the international community," he concluded.
