REPORT: Sniping operations in Tripoli leave 1 person dead, as LAF deploys

The Lebanese Armed Forces deployed on Sunday in al-Kobbeh and Rifa regions of Tripoli, and is heading towards Syria's street.

Meanwhile, the Arab Democratic Party adjourned its meeting set at 6:00 p.m. to pave the way for truce mediation.

On another note, citizen Mohammad Hourani was killed during sniping operation in Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Arab Democratic Party Refaat Eid announced that an armed group kidnapped two Alawite men from the Beddawi region.

In this context, the Lebanese Armed Forces is exerting efforts to recovering them.

Clashes eased significantly on Sunday morning, while sporadic gunshots can still be heard occasionally.           

During the night, Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebbaneh witnessed sporadic gunfire and missile launching, while in al-Kobbah, a commercial shop belonging to an Alawite citizen, was set ablaze.

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.

But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.

Supporters of either side have clashed frequently, heightening fears that the war is spilling over into Lebanon.
