Akkar town of Beino loses 3 family members to Coronavirus in Venezuela

The Akkar town of Beino lost on Sunday three Lebanese immigrants from the same family in Venezuela to Coronavirus.

The deceased were identified as: Nicolas Makkari (85 years old), his son Habib (55 years old) and Youssef al-Chaer (87 years old).

The priest of Beino’s parish Hanna al-Chaer who is a relative of the deceased said that other family members are still in the hospitals receiving treatment, adding that there is a state of panic among the Lebanese diaspora in Venezuela as they cannot leave the country for treatment.

“There is also a great difficulty in communicating with patients in hospitals in order to know more about their health conditions," he added.

He concluded by calling on the concerned authorities and the Lebanese embassy in Venezuela “to provide as much medical aid as possible and to facilitate travel for those who wish.”
