REPORT: Beirut Order of Engineers' council holds elections
The list headed by Jad Tabet won on Saturday in the polls held to elect a head of the Beirut Order of Engineers and five new council members.

The polls were held amid tight security measures and under the supervision of Khaled Shehab, the head of the order and the five council members.

Around 40,810 engineers were entitled to vote.

The second competing list was headed by Paul Najem, the Free Patriotic Movement candidate, who is supported by a coalition of several parties.

The third list was headed by Michel Khoury.

An independent candidate, Pierre Jaara was also running for the elections.
