European Union Election Observation Mission deploys 40 observers
The European Union Election Observation Mission deployed 40 observers on Thursday across all Lebanese regions.

They will reinforce the work of the Mission on the Election Day, and will join the observers on a long-term mission who have been regularly reporting from the electoral constituencies in Lebanon since mid-April.

In his speech, the Head of the European Union Election Observation Mission in Lebanon Georges Holvini said that the goal of this mission is to accompany the Lebanese people through the electoral process as friends and neighbors.

He explained that the European Union delegation has been in Lebanon since the end of March, when the main team of ten electoral specialists arrived to cover the various aspects of the electoral process, and that there have been 30 observers on a long-term mission made up of two-person teams since mid-April.

"We work completely independently of Lebanese authorities, politicians, and institutions, and the European Union's election observation missions are entirely funded by the union's budgets. The European Union Election Observation Mission does not make a decision or certify the results," he added.
