French Foreign Ministry considered that Lebanon passed an important milestone on Sunday May 15th by holding legislative elections in the context of the severe crisis that the country has been experiencing for more than two years.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry praised the organization of these elections as scheduled, but regretted the incidents and violations recorded by the European Union Election Observation Mission, and hoped that the truth of what happened would be revealed.
The French Foreign Ministry urged all Lebanese officials to appoint a prime minister without delay and to form a new government in order to take the necessary measures for the advancement of the country and to provide credible solutions that meet the aspirations of the population, especially based on the framework agreement signed with the International Monetary Fund.
The Foreign Ministry affirmed that France will continue to stand by the Lebanese people.
