Kataeb: we must transition from sectarianism to national defense

The Kataeb party commented on the cabinet’s stance as to the Arab League’s decision on Syria, saying “the cabinet should have distanced itself in line with its previous positions and decisions.      

“We are keen on preserving stability in Lebanon and avoiding anything that may take the country back to the phase of street violence and agitation”, the party said.      

The party office said that the Lebanese situation has gone beyond the principle of resistance, especially after being subjected to numerous international resolutions, the latest being UNSCR 1701, and after forcing sections of southern Lebanon to be put under international supervision.      

“We should discuss the means to defend the nation, to limit weapons to the legitimate Lebanese forces and limit all sovereign decisions to constitutional institutions.” 

The party called for a national dialogue based on a “transition from the principle of partisan and sectarian resistance to the principle of national defense that preserves the nation and unites the people”.
