Sleiman sends memo to al-Arabi, slams Syrian repeated violations

President Sleiman handed the Lebanese Ambassador to the Arab League, Abdul Rahman al-Solh on Thursday morning a memorandum on the Syrian violations to be referred to the Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The memo briefs al-Arabi on Lebanon's rejection of the Syrian repeated violations of the country's sovereignty, expressing Sleiman's hope that all parties be committed to fully respecting Lebanon's territories and borders.

The memo also stresses the need to avoid any involvement in conflicts on both sides of the country's borders.

Syrian regime troops have carried out numerous attacks on Lebanese border areas, mainly raids on the town of Arsal, which has become a crossing for rebels and people fleeing the fighting in Syria.

Over recent months, there have also been several attacks from rebel-held areas of Syria on Hezbollah strongholds.

This comes as Hezbollah along with Syrian regime forces regained control of the strategic town of al-Qusayr in central Homs province after it had been in rebel hands for over a year.
