Mikati visits UNHCR office in Tripoli

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited on Friday, along with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Lebanon Ninette Kelley, the commission’s center in Tripoli where he was briefed on the services that this commission is providing to the displaced Syrians in Lebanon.

Mikati was informed on the needs of these refugees and the difficulties they are facing, stressing the importance of helping these persons and providing them with aid.

Millions of Syrians fled their homes and sought shelter in neighboring countries with Jordan and Lebanon hosting the bulk, further fueling fears that Syria's conflict may spillover across the border.

Lebanon, a country of 4 million which is still recovering from its own 15-year civil war that ended in 1990, is hosting over half a million refugees.
