Speaker Berri calls for holding a joint parliamentary committees meeting

Speaker Nabih Berri called on Thursday for holding a meeting of the joint parliamentary committees next Thursday to study the draft-law on the new wage scale.

Cabinet referred the wage scale to Parliament following weeks of nationwide protests on Thursday [March 21st].

The Union Coordinating Committee had launched its open ended strike on February 19th 2013 after making repeated called on Prime Minister Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.

Even if the joint committees are set to discuss the wage scale, it is not clear when the parliament would approve it.
