Clashes erupt in Tripoli's al-Baqar, killing one, leaving two injured

      
Clashes erupted on Saturday in Tripoli's al-Baqar neighborhood between the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and gunmen, killing Abdullah Chamaytyeh, and leaving a woman and an LAF soldier injured.         

On the other hand, residents of al-Baqar neighborhood denied any clashes with the LAF, and confirmed that clashes took place with Jabal Mohsen following the killing of a citizen.           

For his part, the media official of the Arab Democratic Party Abdul Latif Saleh denied Jabal Mohsen's involvement in the clashes taking place in Tripoli, stressing the need to exercise restraint.             

In this context, Abdul Latif Saleh told LBCI that a Palestinian national who worked in Jabal Mohsen was killed on his way to Badawi in Tripoli's Riva region.       

Earlier, the state-run National News Agency reported that calm prevailed over the city of Tripoli amid heavy deployment of Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces.         

This as all shops , banks and public administrations opened their doors in a bid to push through the heavy economic losses entailed by the city.           

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.               
But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
