MP Aoun: There are no indicators of forming a new cabinet

Change and Reform Bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that the bloc has been against extending the mandate of the parliament, adding that they also rejected prolonging the mandate of the Internal Security Forces’ Chief, Major General Ashraf Rifi, and that of Lebanese Armed Forces Chief General Jean Kahwagi.

“Those claiming any contradiction in our political stances should prove their claims,” MP Aoun said.

Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, MP Aoun said “the 'other party' should be held accountable for disrupting the work of constitutional institutions.”

Regarding the formation of the cabinet, MP Aoun said that there are no indicators of forming a new cabinet at any time soon; however, some are saying that the cabinet will be formed when the extended mandate of the parliament ends.

Aoun added that “neither the United States, nor the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Iran are behind the performance of politicians in Lebanon, stressing that the Lebanese state has been transformed into that of mini-states”.
