El Hajj Hassan: Some municipalities plot to reduce green spaces

Minister of Agriculture Hussein El Hajj Hassan accused some municipalities and the judiciary of plotting to reduce green spaces in Lebanon. He called for the preservation of the existing green spaces before the situation turns tragic and the lands become barren.

“Lebanon lost 20% of its forest wealth in the last 30 years, and cedar trees are being cut off in the north and in the Bekaa”, he said, adding that no one is being punished, especially that the forest guards cannot even defend themselves.
