MP Sleiman Frangieh: Our alliance with Hezbollah not related to electoral, geographic interests

El Marada movement leader MP Sleiman Frangieh asserted on Thursday that his alliance with Hezbollah is not related to electoral or geographical interests.

On Syria, MP Frangieh noted that attempts to dismantle the Syrian regime had failed, adding that the Syrian army and the regime "are stronger than ever."

He also stressed that the al Nusra Front and al-Qaeda are present on Lebanese grounds, adding that the security situation in Lebanon has become "highly volatile".

He noted that there is one million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, among whom are 50,000 armed refugees, in addition to the presence of the Palestinian gunmen.

MP Frangieh slammed former Internal Security Forces Chief Major General Ashraf Rifi's statements regarding the El Marada movement in terms of sending weapons to Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen.

He also urged the swift formation of a new government in Lebanon, adding that any "bad choice in this regard will reflect on the street."
