Abi Ramia calls for democratic vote on STL funding

Change and Reform Bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia said on Monday that, according to the FPM, the Bar Association elections were “the mother of all battles”, adding that the movement’s main goal was to bring down the March 14 candidate.

“We reached our goal; March 8 candidate lawyer Nohad Jabr was elected,” he added.

Commenting on PM Saad Hariri’s recent tweets, Abi Ramia told Nharkom Said LBCI show that Hariri rushed into the presidency battle [by calling for Samir Geagea’s candidacy].

As for the issue of the funding of the STL, Abi Ramia said that the Tribunal will be dealt with in accordance to the law, adding that “there is no [legal] justification for Lebanon to fund the STL.”

Abi Ramia called on the ministers to “democratically” put the issue of STL funding to a vote, adding that “should National Struggle Front Leader MP Walid Jumblatt not be pleased with the vote’s results, he could take the decision that he sees fit.”
