Caretaker Minister Charbel: No weapons found in Keserwan Villa

Caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel denied on Tuesday media reports stating that the security forces found weapons in an under construction villa in the district of Keserwan.

He also noted that the Daraya municipality must not be accused of harboring terrorist groups, adding that investigations are underway in this regard.

Caretaker Minister Charbel said that there were three targets highlighted in red on the maps found in the house in the Daraya region, adding that experts are working on revealing them.

He also called on Lebanese leaders to ease down their provocative rhetoric, urging the security forces to exert all possible efforts to implement calm and security across Lebanon.

He concluded by denying any information about the whereabouts of fugitive Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir.

On another note, caretaker Minister Charbel held a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Director of Military Intelligence Edmond Fadel at the Grand Serail.

Following the meeting, Charbel denied any information about the possibility of explosions occuring in Tripoli in the wake pf Eid al-Fitr, adding that the security plan will be fully implemented.

On Sunday evening, an explosion took place as Egyptian national identified as Abdul Latif Ahmad Al-Dakhakhni was killed while his brother Mohammad and a Syrian national identified as Mohamad Hassan Masoud were severely injured whilst attempting to build a bomb inside their house in Daraya Sunday.

The victim and the injured were rushed to the Central hospital in Mazboud.

Security sources told LBCI on Monday that Mohammad Al-Dakhakhni succumbed to his wounds in the wake of the Daraya blast that took place Sunday.

Sources added that preliminary investigations did not show any evidence linking the Daraya network with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assir, while investigations continue with Sheikh Al-Dakhakni on suspicion of involvement in the explosion.

Meanwhile, State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr tasked the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence Branch to carry out the preliminary investigations into the blast.

In this regard, sources told LBCI that the Army Intelligence is following up on the investigation, adding that the Egyptian national Abdul Latif was wanted on several charges.
