Sierra to Nasrallah: Investigations still ongoing in the Labbouneh incident

The commander of the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon Gen. Paolo Sierra commented on Thursday on the statements launched by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Wednesday evening regarding the Labbouneh incident, stressing that investigations are still ongoing to reveal the circumstances of the incident.

During the annual Medical Activities Plan with the Indian Battalion held in Marjayoun, South Lebanon, Sierra warned of the gravity of the Labbouneh incident adding that it must not be repeated, noting that the UN forces were one kilometer away from the scene and had only heard the explosion.

In this context, he stressed that the UNIFIL are keen on preventing any misunderstanding or violation, pointing out that they are cooperating with the Lebanese security forces in order to settle the case.

On Wednesday 7th of August, a statement was issued by the Lebanese Armed Forces Command stating that an Israeli foot patrol violated the blue line in the region of Labbouneh and crossed 400 meters into the Lebanese territories, and while infiltrating, a landmine detonated leaving a number of injuries.
