EDL contract workers postpone movement due to security situation

The committee of contract workers at the Electricite Du Liban (EDL) decided on Tuesday to postpone its movements due to the security situation in the country, adding that it will not be subject to any political pressure and it will bear the responsibility of its decisions.

The committee called on service providing companies not to impose pressure on contract workers to prevent them from any further movements in the future, and mentioned that the full time employment of EDL contract workers is a right that will not be given up.

The committee added that it is adherent to the draft law endorsed at the parliament, adding that it will not recognize any other.

The parliament had endorsed a bill to employ the contract workers full-time at EDL but the draft legislation awaits the approval of Parliament’s Secretariat.
