President Sleiman urges politicians to weigh their actions and form a cabinet

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said Wednesday the latest developments in the region, mainly in Syria, necessitate on all parties to adhere to the Baabda declaration and to the self-dissociation policy.        

During a meeting held at the Baabda Presidential Palace with a delegation from the economic bodies, Sleiman pointed out that Lebanon is the only country in which employers take the decision to stop practicing their work due to the economic risks threatening the country.                    

In this regard, President Sleiman said the employers’ decision is a means of raising their voices, adding that the entire Lebanese society should exert efforts to maintain the country’s social security.         

Sleiman added that political parties should understand the employers’ choice and follow a positive path in their political actions in order to form a cabinet and hold national dialogue sessions to seek means for defending Lebanon.     

On another note, President Sleiman held talks with deputy caretaker Prime Minister Samir Mokbel and caretaker Environment Minister Nazem Khoury.                   

He also met with the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi who briefed him on the latest implemented security measures at the Lebanese borders.          

Sleiman also discussed with the Head of the General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim applied measures to control the influx of Syrian refugees into Lebanon.
