Nahhas to LBCI: We may participate in cabinet session to settle wage issue

Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas told LBCI that the Change and Reform bloc may participate in the cabinet session on Wednesday to settle the issue of wages, adding that no other issue is more important or more pressing than the wage adjustment.

“The STL item will be settled at the right time, and will be put on the table for funding”, Nahhas said.

Nahhas submitted the private sector’s wage adjustment, to be distributed on the participants in Wednesday’s session. “Today, citizens fear for their fate and wonder: “Which one will it be? The STL funding? The wage adjustment? Or the government’s collapse?

This is the cry of a citizen who spent his life serving his state and receives a pension that is not enough for him to buy medicine

Markets are seeing reduced traffic as if they were on vacation and not in one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year. While citizens are waiting for the wage raise, all that came their way were high prices and lower interest on savings.

The Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry refused the wage adjustment draft law. They were joined by the Syndical Coordination Body that reaffirmed commitment to their original conditions and threatened of going back to mobilization.
