Geagea on STL funding: it was simply a political decision

The head of the Lebanese Forces Party Samir Geagea praised PM Najib Mikati’s decision to fund the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, adding that Hezbollah and its allies can no longer claim that this tribunal is an American-Israeli invention.

Geagea mentioned that if Hezbollah cares about its credibility in front of its supporters it should recognize the Tribunal and abide by its decision, hand in the four suspects accused of the assassination of former PM Rafic Hariri and to follow up on the trials from a purely legal point of view.

“It was simply a political decision to prolong the government’s life”, Geagea told the reporters. On the other hand, Geagea commented on the rocket launched on Israel last week saying that such actions would affect the 1701 UNSC decision, blaming the government and the Lebanese Armed Forces for failing to control the border.
