MP Jaber to LBCI: Speaker Berri respects authority of President Sleiman, PM-Designate Salam

MP Yassine Jaber asserted on Friday that Speaker Nabih Berri respects the powers of President Michel Sleiman and that of Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam, adding however that he is launching his initiative in order to facilitate the formation of a new government.

Berri's initiative focuses on a five-day dialogue session to be held between the March 8 and March 14 alliance at the Baabda Palace under the auspices of President Michel Sleiman.

Discussions are said to tackle the form and policy statement of the future government, a new electoral law, supporting the Lebanese Army, and the national defense strategy.

MP Jaber's comments came during an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show in which he said that a "political government" must be formed in Lebanon.
