Mikati: All Lebanese regions are under the authority of the Lebanese state

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Friday that citizens of Tripoli reject the use of arms and support the implementation of a security plan to maintain stability in the northern city.      

During a meeting held at Tripoli’s Serail to discuss security measures, PM Mikati said all Lebanese regions, including Tripoli are under the authority of the Lebanese state.                  

In this regard, Mikati called on Tripoli’s residents to respond in a positive manner to the security plan, urging them to aid security apparatuses in carrying out their duties.                 

During the meeting, PM Mikati called on caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to cooperate with the Army Command and security officials to put in force Tripoli's security measures.                 

The meeting was attended by Minister Marwan Charbel, caretaker Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn, caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports Faysal Karameh, deputies Samir Jisr, Mohammad Kabbarah, Robert Fadel, Bader Wannoous, and Samer Saadeh, and the Internal Security Forces Head General Ibrahim Basbous, Lebanese Armed Forces Operations Director Brigadier General Ziad Homsi, Cheif of Intelligence in the North General Amer Al Hassan and ISF commander in Tripoli Bassam Al-Ayoubi.
