MP Jumblatt says poor living conditions urged Akkar residents to leave their homes

   
Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that he still awaits the formation of a cabinet that unites all parties unconditionally.                 

In his weekly editorial posted in the PSP newspaper, Al-Anbaa, MP Jumblatt said officials should no longer bid on the events taking place in Syria, asking them to hold national dialogue sessions that aim at seeking solutions for Lebanon's current dilemmas.                            

On another note, MP Jumblatt lamented the poor state of affairs in the northern region of Akkar, stating that the region has long been neglected by officials, and its citizens suffer high levels of poverty, and desertion.                      

In this regard, MP Jumblatt said that poor living conditions and hopelessness, as well as the reluctance of the Lebanese state in putting forth a developmental plan for the region, pushed the residents of Akkar to leave their towns and head for other countries.              

MP Jumblatt said Lebanese officials should take firm and formal actions regarding the death of dozens of Lebanese in the Indonesian sea, urging them to exert more efforts to develop the towns of Akkar and revitalize the economy.

Dozens of Lebanese nationals hailing from the towns of Akkar were reported dead on Friday, September 26 after a boat carrying them to Australia sank off the coast of Indonesia.           

Preliminary information showed that an Iraqi national known as Abou Salah was in charge of transferring the persons to Indonesia before reaching Australia.
