Sukkarieh to LBCI: Security incidents pushed Hezbollah to implement security measures in Dahiyeh

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Walid Sukkarieh expressed on Wednesday his regret over the dispute that erupted on Saturday in the Bekaa city of Baalbek between Hezbollah members and the Chiyah family, stressing that Hezbollah is against sectarian strife.

Sukkarieh told LBCI during Nharkom Said that Hezbollah should not be accused of establishing a state within a state since the party remains committed to all Lebanese institutions.

On another note, MP Sukkarieh said that the latest security events in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs [Dahiyeh] region pushed Hezbollah to implement security measures in the region; however, these measures were not put in force to protect Shiite citizens, but residents of the entire region.

On Saturday, September 28 the state-run National News Agency reported that a dispute erupted in the Bekaa city of Baalbek between Hezbollah members and others from the Chiyah family, leaving three people killed and several others injured. The NNA later said that the Lebanese Armed Forces deployed in the region and controlled the situation.
