Plane carrying Lebanese survivors from Indonesia delayed

The Chargé d'affaires at the Lebanese embassy in Indonesia, Joanna Azzi told caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on Monday that the plane, which was due to arrive to the Beirut International Airport on Tuesday at 10:30 am, was delayed until 6 pm.

The plane will carry the Lebanese delegation's members as well as the 10 Lebanese nationals who survived the asylum seeking boat tragedy.

Dozens of Lebanese nationals hailing from the town of Akkar were reported dead on Friday, September 26 after a boat carrying them to Australia sank off the coast of Indonesia.

Preliminary information showed that an Iraqi national known as Abou Salah was in charge of transferring the persons to Indonesia before reaching Australia.
