Mikati holds series of meetings to restore calm in Tripoli

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held on Sunday several security and political meetings in order to restore calm in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli mainly after the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the security forces have implemented measures in this regard.

LAF Commander General Jean Kahwagi briefed Mikati on the measures being implemented by the army on the ground, noting that "those who undermine security are being arrested and referred to the judiciary".

Mikati also telephoned caretaker Justice Minister Shakib Kortbawi and the State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr, and stressed the need to expedite investigations over Tripoli's twin blasts and to bring all the involved to justice.
