MP Ghanem: Electoral law discord will lead to deadlock

Head of Lebanon's Justice and Administration parliamentary commission, MP Robert Ghanem dismissed reports stating new information had emerged on the drafting of a new parliamentary electoral law. He said that the reason behind the formation of a sub-committee was to discuss and study the issue.

He also noted that there were two sides to the coin; one political and the other administrative as well as technical.

Ghanem pointed that the ongoing discord in regards to the electoral law will lead to a deadlock and that it was not possible to ask Speaker Nabih Berri to forward all electoral laws to the General Assembly for deliberation.
