Judge Saqr rejects pleas submitted by ADP leader attorney

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr rejected Wednesday pleas submitted by the attorney of the Arab Democratic Party leader for their “illegality”.

The state-run National News Agency added that Judge Saqr examined a report submitted by attorney Huyam Eid on behalf of Ali Eid and detained suspect Ahmed Ali and rejected them for failing to conform to legal conditions.

The NNA added that a request to free Ali and another to lift the investigation and search warrant issued against former MP Eid were also rejected.

Saqr referred the documents to First Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida to take the necessary decision accordingly.

The State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Tuesday [05-11] Arab Democratic Party leader former MP Ali Eid and his driver Ahmed Mohammed Ali with smuggling suspect Ahmad Merhi suspected for involvement in the case of Tripoli's twin blasts.

A search and investigation warrant was issued against former MP Eid on Monday.

Judge Saqr also charged Syrian national Sukeina Ismail with plotting to transfer the two car bombs from Syria into Lebanon.

On another note, General Security officials at the al-Abboudiyeh border-crossing arrested Chehade hdoud, who was charged earlier on Tuesday with smuggling suspect Sukeina Ismail from Lebanon to Syria.

Last week, the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau summoned Eid for interrogations over his alleged involvement in the August twin bombings that targeted Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli killing 47 people.
