MP Jumblatt: Syrian crisis surpasses powers of Lebanese parties

Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that the latest developments prove that the Syrian crisis is greater than the powers of the Lebanese parties involved, adding that the repercussions of the crisis are now taking a sectarian drift that most recently manifested in the clashes that erupted in Lebanon’s West Bekaa.

Jumblatt said in his weekly stance that the Syrian regime claimed that is was fighting terrorism at the onset of the war; however did not change its strategy, and is now responsible for shedding the blood of the Syrian people.

On another note, MP Jumblatt called for easing political rhetoric and forming a national unity cabinet that garners the support of all Lebanese factions.
