Child dies of mysterious illness in the Akkar town of Fneidek

The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported on Thursday that a state of confusion prevailed in the Akkar village of Fneidek after the death of child Hassan M. Taleb due to respiratory troubles and high fever.  

NNA added that his three siblings and seven of his cousins were transferred to a hospital for the same causes.    

Head of the Fneidek municipality Khaldoun Taleb stated that the municipality followed up on the issue with the family from the very beginning.   

In turn, Doctor Hassan Chdid confirmed that he has been following up on the issue and mentioned that he notified the epidemiological surveillance unit about the said incident in order to take all the necessary measures to determine the nature of the disease which the children are suffering from.    

Doctor Chdid said that issue is very serious and the Ministry of Health is following up on it, noting that the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit will carry out the needed tests on the samples that were taken from the children to decide, based on the results, the nature of the decease.
