Minister Mashnouq condemns Saturday’s car bomb attack as criminal act
Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq condemned on Sunday the car bomb attack that targeted a Lebanese Armed Forces checkpoint as “a terrorist and criminal act”.

A suicide bomber in an explosives-laden car targeted a Lebanese army checkpoint near the Syrian border on Saturday evening, killing three soldiers, the Lebanese military said.

The attack in the Wadi Ata area near the eastern border town of Arsal came after forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad routed rebels from two Syrian villages lying just across the border.

“The attack will not deter us from carrying on the security plan in order to maintain security and reassure our families across the Lebanese territories,” Mashnouq said in a statement.
“This criminal act is not solely directed against the army, but to the state and all Lebanese citizens as well,” he said, adding that it is rejected by all divine and international laws.
