The Cabinet session resumed after a suspension that lasted nearly one hour and a half, due to a dispute that erupted between President Michel Sleiman and Hezbollah over the issue of the appointments. The Lebanese cabinet had convened Monday evening at the Baabda Palace under the chairmanship of Lebanese President Michel Sleiman.
Prior to the session, Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi stated that Brigadier General Ibrahim Basbous may be appointed during the session as the Director General of Internal Security Forces.
For his part, Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil noted that the decrees related to the petroleum dossier should be adopted to preserve Lebanon's prestige.
In the same regard, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour mentioned that the petroleum file requires more discussions, emphasizing that the new pay scale is one of the topics listed on today's agenda.
Meanwhile, Industry Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan ruled out changing the status of Intelligence Bureau of the Internal Security Forces to that of a division, stressing that all issues adopted in cabinet must gain consensus.
