President Sleiman regrets failure to pass proportionality electoral draft law
President Michel Sleiman regretted the failure to discuss and pass the draft law pertaining to the adoption of the proportionality law for the upcoming elections during a session held by lawmakers Friday, hoping that a modern electoral law that guarantees fair representation of the various components of the Lebanese people will be reached.

On another note, Sleiman received the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Ignatius Ephrem II, accompanied by a delegation. The president congratulated the Patriarch on his appointment, and offered his condolences for the death of the late Patriarch Zakka Iwas.

Separately, President Sleiman met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Amos, who briefed him on the work carried out by the UN concerning the issue of the Syrian refugees, mainly in terms of health and education.
