Interior Minister: A plan will be implemented to evacuate the injured from border town of Tfeil
Minister of Interior Nohad Machnouq held on Monday a press conference in which he said that the ministry is implementing a plan to evacuate those who are injured from the border town of Tfeil and to send aid to its residents.

He noted that the plan will be kicked off on Tuesday morning, adding that the town of Tfeil cannot be reached from Lebanon and it must be entered from Syria.

He concluded by saying that he will not allow the smuggling of gunmen into Lebanon through Tfeil.

Syrian opposition fighters have recently gathered in the Lebanese town of Tfeil, after escaping the battles in the village of Qalamoun on the border with Lebanon.

Tfeil is surrounded by Syrian lands to its north, east and south, and by the Lebanese villages of Ham, Maarboun and Brital to its west.
It should also be noted that no roads link Tfeil to Lebanese territories.

More than 5,000 Lebanese nationals reside in Tfeil, Christians and Muslims, and among them there are around 25 soldiers in the army.

On Wednesday, President Michel Sleiman called during a cabinet meeting to help the town's residents escape and take refuge in safe regions inside Lebanon.
