Eichhorst praises Sleiman’s efforts, says EU will stand by Lebanon

EU Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst reiterated on Thursday the EU’s support to the country and its institutions, saying: “Europe will support Lebanon during challenging times”.

"The EU will continue to stand by state institutions and will honor its commitment to a strong partnership with Lebanon,” the ambassador said following talks with President Michel Sleiman.

Eichhorst also lauded Sleiman’s efforts in maintaining security and stability as well as upholding the EU-Lebanon partnership at all levels.

She added that the EU has repeatedly voiced support for initiatives led by Sleiman, which “contributed to the adoption of the Baabda Declaration and the dissociation policy, the pursuit of national dialogue as well as discussions over the national defense strategy”.
