Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri hailed on Saturday the stances of President Michel Sleiman, pointing out that the president adhered to the Baabda Declaration and was keen on maintaining Lebanon's sovereignty.
In a statement issued by his press office, Hariri said that President Sleiman will leave office, ending his term with an important political asset to what presidency should be at the upcoming stage.
"Only few hours separate us from the constitutional deadline to elect a new president," Hariri said, emphasizing that a 'political miracle' is needed to end the deadlock.
Hariri urged all political factions to deal with presidential void as "a serious threat that targets the democratic system and makes the presidency vulnerable."
