Bou Saab: Official exams will not be corrected without UCC’s approval

Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said Monday that the head of the Future bloc MP Fouad Siniora believes it is unfair for the teachers that the series of ranks and salaries has failed to be passed, noting that he stressed the need to pass a just pay scale with balanced figures.

Following his meeting with a delegation from the Union Coordinating Committee at the Education Ministry, Bou Saab pointed out that he contacted Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil who expressed his readiness to provide any related information.

“The official exams cannot be corrected without the approval of the UCC,” the minister stated, adding that he will not attempt to find a solution without the UCC’s approval.

For his part, member of the UCC Hanna Gharib called for adopting the formula reached in July 2012, stressing that they will boycott the exams’ correction until the pay scale is approved.

In turn, head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud noted that the teachers have tried all means to obtain their rights, hoping that the parliamentary blocs will handle the pay scale issue as an urgent and exceptional matter.
