Mufti al-Shaar: Hezbollah's weapons must remain directed toward Israel
The Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek al-Shaar stressed on Friday that extra-state arms in the country must not be tolerated, and Hezbollah's weapons must remain directed toward Israel in south Lebanon.

Sheikh al-Shaar called on all Tripoli and North Lebanon's residents to adhere to their religious beliefs, adding that both Christianity and Islam call for peace.

Sheikh al-Shaar also called on the Lebanese people to assume their national responsibilities in preserving Lebanon's unity.

Ethnically mixed Lebanon has suffered a wave of sectarian violence linked to the war in Syria.
