Wahhab to LBCI: Lebanon unable to hold parliamentary elections

Arab Tawhid Party leader Wiam Wahhab said on Tuesday that Lebanon is unable to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections amid the current presidential vacuum.

"The political decision to hold the elections stems from external parties, and is not issued by the Interior Ministry," Wahhad said in an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV show.

"Those who are hurdling the presidential entitlement are also disrupting the parliamentary elections," he said.

In this regard, Wahhad added that Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri did not reveal the agreements brokered during his meeting with Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun.

Asked about Aoun's proposal to introduce amendments to the constitution, Wahhab said the suggestion has alleviated the concerns of the Christian community over an "Islamic dominance".

On another note, Wahhab said Turkey and Qatar are suspected of backing the Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, stressing that he does not intend to make advances in Sh'ite areas.
