15 days to curb street-beggars phenomenon

These images of little children, beggars, running between cars at intersections or during traffic jams have become increasingly visible these past few months. They are brought to the streets by grown-ups who expect them to give the money they have collected at the end of the day.

This is considered to be a new form of human trafficking occurring usually under the nose of security authorities and can no longer be overlooked since it bears heavy repercussions on the life and the outlook of these little children.

This problem prompted the ministers concerned by street-beggars meaning Interior, Justice and Public Affairs Ministers to hold a meeting that saw the participation of the General Director of the ISF. They also established a committee entrusted with the task of devising a mechanism to curb this phenomenon during 15 days at most. Furthermore, laws and measures governing the phenomenon of street-beggars, which has become widely spread all over the country, will be implemented.

Today we need not only to take care of these children, but also punish those responsible for this phenomenon. In 15 days, a joint security, judicial and social approach is expected to be implemented. This approach should bear its desired fruits and prove to be feasible on the long-run.
