Zahle prison guards thwart attempt to smuggle hashish hidden in meat sandwiches

The state-run National News Agency reported on Saturday that security guards at the Zahle prison thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of hashish to an inmate.

According to the agency, the hashish were hidden in meat sandwiches.

On August 29, the prison's security guards seized 20 grams of hashish hidden in a halva box.

Such smuggling attempts are very frequent as visitors get creative when it comes to smuggling narcotics.

Some have hidden hashish in cucumbers, apricots, toothpaste, meat pastries, sandwiches, pistachio shells and other food varieties.
