Security meeting held at Grand Serail
Prime Minister Tammam Salam chaired on Saturday a security meeting at the Grand Serail to discuss the overall security situation in Lebanon.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Defense Samir Moqbel, Minister of Justice Achraf Rifi, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwagi, the General-Secretary of the Higher Defense M ohammad Kheir, General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim, Internal Security Forces Director General Ibrahim Basbous and Lebanese State Security Brigadier General Georges Karaa.

Following the meeting, Minister Moqbel said that the government backs the military institution in its battle against Takfiris and terrorism.

For his part, Major General Abbas Ibrahim said prior to the meeting that the Qatari delegation did not arrive yet to Lebanon.

Two soldiers were killed and three others wounded on Friday after their vehicle was targeted by a roadside bomb in Arsal.

The attack came hours after the army arrested a Lebanese and two Syrian nationals in the area of al-Mesyada in Arsal.

Arsal, close to the border with Syria, was the scene last month of a battle between the Lebanese army and gunmen who had streamed across the border.

At the end of the clashes in August, the jihadists took with them soldiers and policemen as captive as they withdrew, and two of them have since been beheaded, while a third was executed yesterday.
